A baseline examination will be completed for all of our first time patients. This is a thorough evaluation and recording of the extraoral and intraoral hard and soft tissues. Existing restorations, periodontal health, caries (cavities), and prosthesis will be evaluated and noted. Upon evaluation, additional diagnostic procedures may be necessary.

Also known as study models, diagnostic casts are stone or plaster models of teeth. They are sometimes required to evaluate conditions and derive feasible treatment plans.

The examination of the gum tissue. The initial exam will give the dentist a base line from which to compare future exams. Periodontal exams determine pocket depths, gingival loss (gum loss), fremitus, and mobility of teeth.

Necessary radiographs will be determined by the dentist and will be completed prior to a treatment plan and/or evaluation of the area(s) of concern.

Prior to and during any treatments, consultations are offered to help patients diagnose and understand their dental health and treatment options.

A dental cavity is excavated and filled with a light-cured resin material that is tooth colored. This procedure is generally used for cavities where aesthetics is a concern.

A crown is a fixed (no removal necessary) prosthesis that replaces the outer part of the tooth. A bridge is a set of multiple crowns connected together generally to mask a missing tooth.

Implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed inside the jaw bone to hold a prosthesis. Single or multiple implants may be used depending on the type of prosthesis needed to replace missing teeth.

Inlays and onlays are single tooth restorations used in specific situations to preserve tooth structure. They are used when a cavity is too large for a filling but not large enough to require a crown. Inlays sit within the structure of a tooth between biting surfaces, while an onlay will cover a biting surface.

Overdentures are removable dentures that are the standard of care for completely edentulous (all missing) teeth on the mandibular (lower) jaw and are used when extra retention and support are needed on the maxillary (upper) jaw. In the past, root tips have been used to help give overdentures support, but due to their high efficacy and longevity, implants are becoming more common.

Partial dentures are removable dentures that are used when some teeth are missing from the upper or lower jaw.

Bleaching is a cosmetic procedure utilizing peroxide to lighten/whiten teeth. Sensitivity may be felt temporarily (a few days to about a week) after usage of beaching. Fluoride treatment is highly recommended for patients who bleach their teeth.

Veneers, typically made from porcelain or composite bonding, cover the side of the tooth that is visible. They are generally done for cosmetic reasons or, when appropriate, to conserve tooth structure while restoring a tooth.
